Ceramics is something I long dreamed of doing and it seemed a natural progression from glass. I love hand-building, which is why you will see a lot of sculptural shapes but I tend to use a mixture of throwing and hand-building for my bowls. I make whatever takes my fancy, so you will find a lot of variety in my work. Some of my creations can be found in my Etsy shop but if what you are looking for isn't there, feel free to contact me via my contact page. I also have a ceramics Facebook page.
This wall mounted sculptural mermaid is part of a series to explore the idea of sunken treasure.
Having a scientific background, I try to bring together the technical aspects of form and materials, expressed as art.
Exploring the links between science, art and environment, my work draws upon aspects of the natural world.
Much of my sculptural and glass work is inspired by the sea, living coral and how materials are affected by the passage of time, beneath the waves.
I design my own glazes to mimic nature, such as barnacles, lava and tarnished metal. I use reclaimed clay and recycled glass in much of my work.
